Chinese president to visit Pakistan on April 10

Islamabad, April 1 (IANS): Chinese President Xi Jinping is slated to arrive in Pakistan on April 10 on a two-day official visit, a media report said on Wednesday.

Official reports said that during the visit, over two dozen memorandum of understanding (MOUs) concerning nuclear power, the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (PCEC), energy, trade and investment would be signed, Dawn online reported.

President Xi on the second day of his visit will address a parliament joint session, which may be summoned by President Mamnoon Hussain, a National Assembly secretariat spokesperson said.

Pakistan has been looking forward to the Chinese leader's visit for the last ten months, but three scheduled visits were postponed during the period.

Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong on March 10 said that President Xi's visit in February was cancelled due to certain domestic engagements. According to an earlier plan, he was also expected to attend the Pakistan Day parade on March 23.

Another visit to Pakistan was postponed due to security reasons in September 2014.
