Udupi: Serial thefts at Manipal - Valuables worth Rs 1 lac stolen

Udupi, Apr 1: A gang of thieves broke into three shops and looted cash and other valuable items worth Rs 1 lac  in Alevoor- Kukkikatte Joduraste area on the night of Tuesday March 31. The incident came to light on the morning of Wednesday April 1.

Among the three shops looted the highest amount of theft was from the grocery shop belonging to Satish Devadiga in the form of cash Rs 18, 600 (pigmi amount), 2 mobiles  worth Rs 10, 000, recharge cards and nearly Rs 7000 daily turnover. 

From another shop belonging to Shankar Shetty Rs 7000 cash and 2 mobiles were stolen. They were unable to break open the shutter of the Power Solution shop belonging to Chanchal.

The police suspected that one particular gang broke into all the three shops simultaneously at night. Shop owners got to know this when opened up their shops in the morning.

Sources reported that a cycle was also found near Kukkikatte Railway Bridge.

The Manipal and Udupi town police rushed to the spot along with the investigation squad and fingerprint expert. According to the police Satish has registered a case with Manipal Police Station. The other two have yet to do so.
