Bengaluru based airline Air Pegasus to start operations from Apr 12

New Delhi, Apr 2 (Agencies) : Bengaluru-based Air Pegasus, which recently acquired flying permit from aviation regulator DGCA, today said it plans to commence operations from April 12 with flight services to Thiruvananthapuram and Hubli.

"We have received an Air Operators Permit from the DGCA, and plan to launch our ticketing system on April 4 and flight operations by April 12," Air Pagesus managing director Shyson Thomas said in a release.

Air Pegasus is the third new airline to receive flying permit from the DGCA, after AirAsia India and Vistara, in last one year.

Promoted by ground-handling services provider Decor Aviation, the regional carrier plans to invest of Rs 100 crore through a mix of internal resources and debt, the company said.

The new carrier, which has been given flying permit to allow on regional routes, plans to start operations with two 66-seater ATRs to begin with and add one more such plane thereafter, the release said, adding that services will be scaled up gradually to connect Kochi, Chennai, Tuticorin, Belgaum and Rajahmundry, Pondicherry, Madurai.

"We already have two ATR-72 aircraft in our fleet that is sufficient to operate the three sectors we plan to start flights with," Thomas said.

Air Pegasus aims to be the truly regional airline brand with more connectivity in existing regions which are underserved and to connect non-connected sectors, he added.

This low cost ATR operations which is basically point to point Volvo type services to tier 3 towns cannot be compared to a Vistara or Air Asia...Pegasus is a total MALLU promoted regional airways service...

But still Pegasus will bring joy to Hubbali, Tiruchy, Mysuru, Belagavi, Kalburgi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Vijayawada, Madurai, Kovai etc soon....All the best!!

Mangaluru and Bengaluru routes are always heavily booked by rail and road transports especially during weekends and holidays. Existing and upcoming players in aviation industry should think of giving more importance to this route at a competitive cost!

Mlore mysore and Mlore Hubli is I think still untapped (may be there with 1 stop but not direct). It will be very useful. Also I think Madikeri needs an airport as it is a tourist place. Then Blore- Madikeri and Mlore-Madikeri could be a useful line. All the best to all new players in aviation.

New airlines cannot operate abroad...they need to fulfill criteria of 5 years in India plus have 10 planes

Secondly, this company is operating 2 ATR's...this is more similar to operating point to point Volvo buses, nothing more. Its a low cost operations connection tier 3 towns basically....

Bryan, Bahrain I presume you're looking up wrong Pegasus on google...check for Air Pegasus

As per DGCA rules, GO Air is eligible to fly overseas, but they have only 9 planes, so stuck as of now with no funding too...
