Mangaluru, Apr 3: At least six persons were injured after a lorry rammed into a bus at Honnakatte, Kulai here on Friday April 3.

It is learnt that the bus plying from Kinnigoli to Mangaluru had halted at Honnakatte to pick up passengers, when a speeding lorry hit the bus from the rear end.

Six of the bus passengers sustained injuries. They were admitted to a private hospital.

Negligence and rash driving by the lorry driver caused the accident, said police sources.

The lorry driver was also among the injured.

Police should verify if the Bus had any reason to stop there in the first Place.
I am a regular driver on this road and quite often the Buses stop all of a sudden because some Passenger wants to board the Bus in between the Stops.
Police should clamp down on such stops. This not only endangers the life of the passengers in the bus but also the vehicle behind.
Also RTA should have checks on the road worthiness ,Brake lights ,musical horns...etc
Lets make MangaluruClean,Green,Less noisy, less polluted and with a Safe Driving culture.

Sad news is that few passengers are injured. Good news is a headache Bus is gone for a while.
First find out if the Bus had any stop lights in rear. Only few buses have rear end lights working.
Some time back a Bus was pulled into RTO in the morning for Inspection. I have followed this bus from Balmatta to RT Office. There was not a single rear end light was working. I have also verified from one employee of the Office that the bus came for inspection. Bus waited for a while and someone walked near the Inspectors and within short time Bus left PASSED TEST.
This is Government Officer working hard or Hardly working.

Looks like the lorry driver was flying not driving! Some outside drivers think NH means non-stop highway..but on this highway some 10 villages dot along this and long-distance vehicle drivers should be aware of pickup stops/s.

    Correction in the previous comment....
Infact it was because of reckless driving by Bus driver..there had been many instances where the bus driver was involved in rash driving and overtaking cases. his license must be confiscated and must be thrown to jail....

Everytime its not required to be the fault of Lorry driver. If you see pics properly you will get to know Lorry was in right right and its been dragged to left after collision. means that collision happened in right lane and after collision lorry had moved to left lane as Its axle broke.

Why do police give two version of statements ? Which one to believe?

Looks like 'Lorry' belongs to different state..!!
It's difficult to judge roads..if driving in other states..
Even it's the mistake of bus who may be parked wrongly..!!
Due to bad structure of roads due to wrong govt..accident occurs always..
