Mangaluru, Apr 4: The police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of Ritesh at Nekkilagude, Derebail-Konchady under Kavoor police station limits.

The arrested are Prabhakar Anchan alias Prabha (30), a resident of Nekkilagudde, Nishant Kavoor (30), a resident of Lohithnagar, Shailesh alias Shailu (21) of Bondel, Vinodraj Shetty alias Boti (24) from Urwa, and Bharatesh, a resident of Kumblapadavu, Mudipu.

The accused were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.

The incident took place in the early hours of March 30. Ritesh along with his friends Nitesh, Yathish and Lohith were returning home after attending a religious programme, when the accused allegedly waylaid them. A fight erupted between the two groups, ending in the murder of Ritesh.

It was said that a financial dispute between Ritesh and Prabhakar was the reason for the clash.

Prabhakar is an accused in several assault cases in Kavoor, Urwa and Mangaluru rural police stations.

Ritesh was a prime accused in the Girish Putran murder case, police sources said.
