Bantwal: One dead, three of family injured in car-tanker collision

Bantwal, Apr 4: One person died and three others sustained serious injuries in a collision between a car and a tanker near Panemanglore bridge here on Saturday April 4.

The deceased has been identified as Riyaz (25). The injured are Abdul  Khader (14), Mohammed Rizwan (13) and Mohammed Raziq (17). They are all from Pittalagudde of Narikombu village, and belong to the same family. They were travelling in a Chevrolet car.

It is learnt that the four had hired the car from Hotelway Palace Inn and were going towards BC Road when the accident took place.

Near Panemangalore bridge, their car rammed head-on into a tanker. The injured were admitted to a hospital.

The tanker driver fled from the spot. However, eyewitness said that the car was moving at a high speed which caused the accident.

Following the accident, traffic was hit for sometime and large crowds gathered to help in shifting the injured to the hospital. The vehicles were cleared with the help of a crane.

A case has been registered in Bantwal town station.
