Mangaluru: Mobile shop burnt to ashes, loss in lacs

Mangaluru, Apr 6: A mobile shop in Kondana near Kotekar has been burnt to ashes.

The incident happened on Saturday night. It is aid that the reason for the fire was short circuit. The loss has been estimated at Rs 40 lacs.

The shop named ‘Sairam mobile and fancy stores’ belonging to Bharath had a stock of fancy items as well as mobile phones, new and old included. All these things were completely destroyed in the fire.

The local residents spotted fire in the shop on Saturday night and they immediately informed the owner Bharath by telephone. The local residents also tried their best to extinguish fire and called the fire brigade. But by the time the fire brigade came to the spot, the shop was completely destroyed.

Bharat has been running the rented shop for the past 5 years. He had taken a loan from a bank for establishing and running the business.

Mescom officials and host of local politicians visited the place.

Ullal police have registered the case.
