Haryana CM gives six months to officers to give up corruption

Chandigarh, April 6 (IANS): Haryana Chief Minsiter Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said government employees and officers have six months to end corruption, failing which they will invite action.

"Government employees and officers have six months to eschew corruption, otherwise the state government would move fast to fix those who indulge in corrupt practices," he said addressing a public meeting in Chhachrauli assembly constituency near Yamunanagar.

"Now, we are requesting the staff not to indulge in corrupt practices. If they do not listen to us in the next six months, we will proceed against the corrupt under the rules and regulations," he warned.

Khattar said the government was "committed to breaking the politician-officer-employees nexus for graft".

"Those who remained in power had looted the state," he said in reference to earlier non-BJP governments in Haryana.

"The previous governments did not pay any heed to this but we will work to change this perception. If there is no corruption at the top level, there should not be any corruption at the lower level also," he said.
