Lime and coconut at Belapu GP entrance worries locals

Udupi, Apr 7: The presence of two limes and coconut smeared with vermilion found in front of the main entrance to Belapu gram panchayat office on Monday April 6 sent the villagers into a tizzy, as they suspected it be and act of black magic.

The pump operator, who arrived at the gram panchayat on Monday morning, saw the items in front of the entrance and informed the development officer of the gram panchayat.

The panchayat staff that arrived for work saw the items in front of the door and entered through the back door. The gram panchayat operator threw away the items and poured water on the spot.

Belapu, a place well-known for development has become notorious for unnecessary reasons. The inability of the gram panchayat management to prevent such incidents has encouraged the elements, allege the villagers.

There is suffocating atmosphere in the gram panchat office due to many reasons and it is alleged that some elements are acting against the staff, and it is suspected the same persons are also involved in this incident also. Gram panchayat development officer has said that he and his staff are for public service and will continue work by trusting god/.
