Mangaluru: Three persons arrested for cattle trafficking

Mangaluru, Apr 7: Suratkal police have arrested three persons in relation to the illegal trafficking of cattle for the purpose of slaughter. Police also seized three cattle which were in the possession of the accused.

Bashir (40) from Jokatte, Puttaraja (40) from Shanthigudde, and Sundara (68) from Bajpe are the persons arrested.

The cattle were being transported in a Tata 407 vehicle to an unknown place with the purpose of slaughter. The animals were treated in inhuman and violent ways, it has been revealed.

Suratkal police who had received a tip off from a credible source stopped the vehicle at Krishnapura second block school and apprehended the accused with the seizure of cattle. Cattle have been sent to an animal rehabilitation centre.

The cattle are said to be of a hybrid variety. Police have requested people to approach them in case they have lost cattle.
