M'luru: Alva's 'Chakravyuh cultural fest' to showcase Incredible India

Mangaluru, Apr 7: Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology, Moodbidri will be organizing Chakravyuh 2015 - a national level techno-cultural fest on April 11, 12 and 13. This was disclosed in a press meet held at the press club on April 7 in the city.

Addressing the media Alexander Mathews dean MBA said, " This year the theme is 'Incredible India'. Chakravyuh is a platform to encourage students from all disciplines to exhibit their talents and skills. In the previous year Chakravyuh there had around 100 events spread across different streams of culture, dance, music and literature.

"This year Chakravyuh will have 200 individual events on 18 stages with 24 categories testing the skill and endurance of thousands of participants across the country. Film star Prakash Raj will be inaugurating the fest. The events will include 'Nari-Shakthi' a women self-defence workshop. There will be competitions in dance, music, fine arts, management literacy."

"A competition in C-coding for software professionals is also arranged. Technical events will include workshops in ethical hacking by Rizwan Sheikh. Rizwan is one of India's renowed ethical hackers information security researcher and cyber crime consultant. Other workshops will be on clay modeling, aeromodelling, a robotics workshop by E-Yantra, paper presentations, talks by experts like Snake Shyam. The fest will also include live concerts, Arcadia the gaming zone, a short film festival 'Chitritsav', laser tag, adventure sports, the infamous humour fest, Motorig-3 and others which will definitely add to the variety."

"Over 3,000 students across the country ranging from undergraduates to PG, to professional courses like engineering, medical, para-medical and MBA will be competing in the fest. We are expecting more than 20,000 people to visit the campus on the three days."

"A variety of events have been planned throughout the day for all visitors. Live performances from well known music bands like 'Masala Coffee', Shankar Tucker's 'Sruti Box', 'Indian Ocean' will keep the audience entertained. These shows are free and open to all. The musical shows will end by 8.30 pm. College buses have been arranged to take people back to Mangaluru, Udupi and Karkala. We have also arranged a food fest offering a range of food from different regions."

"Another highlight of Chakravyuh are the exhibitions. These will showcase the traditional artefacts used locally. There will also be exhibitions on rare-coin collections, philately, paintings, pencil sketches, photography, flowers, butterflies and books. Another exibition will showcase the different carvings and statues of India. Motorig-3 is another exhibition of vintage and latest cars. There will be a thrilling sequential display of car and motorcycle stunts. The electronics expo will exhibit various types of antique and modern electronic gadgets, a civil exibition on Mohenjo Daro civilization is also being arranged."

Prof Manjunath Kothari, convenor and other student convenors were present at the meet.
