Mangaluru, Apr 8: For the past three days, a different weather especially in the mornings has been seen and experienced in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. The atmosphere has looked foggy and smoky at times in the mornings. Some thought it would rain. But that has not been the case.

Dusty weather, seen more in the mornings, continues till afternoon. Deposits of dust can be seen on windows and car glasses, and a layer of yellow seems to have enveloped the atmosphere. Places near the sea have seen more dusty weather than other parts of the districts.

Upon seeing the same on Monday April 6, Daijiworld had got in touch with the meteorological department in Mangaluru, Mysuru and Bengaluru who had said that there was nothing unusual about the weather. They only said that the maximum temperature recorded for the past few days exceeded 34 degree centigrade, and that as humidity was over 70, the mist had formed. They termed it as a normal phenomenon.

Now on the third day, it has been revealed that the weather change could be due to the influence of sand storm which had occurred in the Gulf region last week. The sand storm which was heavy on Wednesday and Thursday across the Gulf had subsided on Friday, but only after creating much anxiety in the region.

Now the meteorological department says that the sand must have reached the region and created the change in the weather pattern. It is said that same pattern though in a different magnitude has been seen in Mumbai and Pune also in the past two days.

Some people blamed the weather change as a result of emission from UPCL unit in Padubidri. But now it has been established that Padubidri was not the cause.

No one seems to have any conclusive answer.
