Udupi, Apr 8: DG and IGP Om Prakash on Wednesday April 8 addressed the media at the Coast Guards administrative office at Malpe here and said that moral policing in Dakshina Kannada cannot be tolerated and those who indulge in it will be dealt with strictly.

"We are aware about the increasing instances of moral policing in DK. The so-called moral police activists will be dealt with severely. We have zero tolerance towards moral policing. Wherever it happens, we will take stern action against the culprits. The department is working towards the betterment of the social system and it is not one-day process," Om Prakash said.

On measures taken to provide security for women, he said, "Various laws and acts have come into force pertaining to women security. The police department is also training and sensitizing the police force to deal with cases regarding women. Special workshops are being held for the police to create awareness about how to investigate cases related to women."

To a question on shortage of police personnel, he said, "The lack of police personnel is not a new issue and we are filling up the vacant posts at the earliest. This year alone, we have recruited more than 8,000 police personnel."

When questioned about misuse of social media, he said police will take stern action regarding this.

On Naxal activities in the Western Ghats, he said that the situation was under control and effective actions have been taken by the police and the ANF to contain such activities.

To a question on the Bengaluru student Gautami who was shot dead at a hostel recently, he declined to comment and said it would not be right to talk about the details of the case while the investigation was in progress.

He further said the police officers were doing a good job, putting their best and honest efforts and doing unbiased work to curtail anti-social elements.

IGP of CID Pratap Reddy, IGP (western range) Amrit Paul, coastal SP Chenna Basavanna, ADG Amritkumar Pandey, IGP (ANF) A S N Murthy were present.

Finally, badly needed action plan is out from police and let us hope to have right result in the society for the days to come.
These BD, VHP and RSS have not only damaged cultural harmony, they have also given a wrong signal to the secular values of India. I hope our budding young generation would breathe a sigh of relief.
Let the goons now spy upon their fellow member's activities and we would surly get a chance to witness their own sins. Devils in moral police character.

Let us know in last one year how many moral-goondas have been arrested and produced in Court in Udupi & D.K districts?

Indeed a welcome change & approach in the Dakshina Kannada District from the Police Department. A much needed boom to the society where we can still trust our Police Department and such actions from our Police Department proves that, they can do such good things if they want.

Yes, the Police Department should look at the issues like moral policing, cattle theft, illegal transportation of cattle, forcible conversions, love jihad (if it exist), forced love marriages & subsequent conversions, violence against women, pelting stones & damaging places of prayers (temples, masjid, churches), holding mass protest & dharna’s by blocking public roads which affects the normal life, use of foul mouth against other religions during public functions etc.

The Karnataka Government should give free hand to our Police to action against any group irrespective of religion. Any groups who disturb our society should be punished.

Undivided Dakshina Kannada (coastal region) till recently was very peaceful. The people of this region have lived for centuries with love and respect for each other irrespective of caste or creed or gender. There no untoward incidents. And if there were any, parents were there to take care of situation. The moral policing and hatred started only when the state was ruled by BJP. The useless goons, should be severely dealt with to stop this non sense. People are mature enough to know what is good or bad and they need not teach them. Hope "zero tolerance" is not an empty slogan/promise by the police department but deterrent to these goons.

Om Prakash Saab….first try to stop conversion and cattle theft business in our area. Stop some communal minded love affairs tactics. Stop our Elected Representatives calling Police Officers whenever our Police arrests any culprits and then you see these Moral Police Members will be chased by their own supporters for sure. Anyhow when you talk tuff in our area, you will be transferred soon so better you don’t shift your family base

That is indeed very encouraging. When we have an efficient LAW AND ORDER system in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi regions there is no question of any one else taking law in their own hands.

It is very encouraging to note that the Police Department have defined their strategy as ZERO TOLERANCE and this what is required in regions where people wish to take the law in their own hands.

Kudos to all and specially to IGP of CID Pratap Reddy, IGP (western range) Amrit Paul, coastal SP Chenna Basavanna, ADG Amritkumar Pandey, IGP (ANF) A S N Murthy who have taken this problem seriously.

Every time there is a change in this position, we hear beautiful speech of controlling crime. In fact, the speech sounds more like Modi's speech - mi yeh korunga, who koungha vhe veh veh. In reality, they will do exactly what the fringe groups dictates them to do. When it comes to Police force, we can count dedicated officers on the fingers of our hand and they are extremely rare in our vast country of 1.2b people.
Still, I wish him the best and hope his words are not like the empty vessel.

Please do not do only bla bla bla before the media, your Police join hands with Safron Hindutva Goons and do calamity which is unconstitutional and need to be dealt seriously with strict punishments and suspensions. Please start doing it. Train your Police to be a Police respecting their Duty not to be a Hindutva ideology follower and Act. This Training needed for the Police in Whole of India.

"Zero tolerance towards moral policing" This slogan we are hearing since two decades from police Dept. but action also bigger ZERO from the police at the same time.Whenever moral policing happens police will catach innocent labourers/citizens and the real culprits will not be touched due to strong political support thus their gang become stronger and motivated to do more and more crimes on innocent people.

    Respected DG-IGP,

We are ashamed to have Karnataka Police department who are abating moral policing DK-UDUPI districts.Moral police personnel who are taking law in to their own hand lett scot free in stead the victims were taken in to custody or some times asked their parents to come P.Station to sign undertaking(that is in "LOVE JIHAD)and other matters victims were trashed by them to pour fuel for the fire handed over to (Immoral) Police Department of Karnataka.

We are very much disturbed that police force in twin districts are mute spectators and both communities have their own Moral policing system.Web are also ashamed that irrespective of any party Govt this menace continues.
