Ghaziabad, April 9 (IANS): Three drug smugglers were arrested with heroin and methaqualone powder valued at Rs.1.5 crore in the international market, police said on Thursday.
The police said during vehicle checking at the Delhi border on Wednesday night, the Sahibabad police noticed the suspicious behaviour of three people in a car. The police detained them and during checking recovered 490 grams of heroin and 510 grams of methaqualone powder from their possession.
"During sustained interrogation they confessed to their crime of transporting the drugs to Delhi where they found potential customers. They revealed their identities as Mohammad Unus a resident of Amroha, Gyanendra a resident of Meerut and Babita alias Sapna, wife of Gyanendra Chauhan a resident of Phase II Noida, GB Nagar. On their tip off, police teams have been dispatched to track the end users," said Dharmendra Yadav, senior superintendent of police, Ghaziabad during a press conference on Thursday.
In addition to the drugs, police have also confiscated the car.
