Extended Delhi Metro line ready for trials

New Delhi, April 9 (IANS): The trial run on Delhi Metro's extension from Badarpur to Haryana's Faridabad is scheduled to start on April 16, it was announced on Thursday.

The violet line, which currently connects Badarpur to Mandi House, will also be extended to Kashmere Gate in a year's time, Delhi Metro spokesman Anuj Dayal said.

Delhi Metro is converting the existing four-coach trains on violet line into six-coach trains. The corridor has only one six-coach Metro train currently of the existing 30 trains operating on the route.

Trial runs generally last for a month, said Dayal.

"We hope to start full-fledged operations on the extended Metro corridor after receiving the clearances from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety and other permissions," said Dayal.

Delhi Metro extension from Badarpur to Faridabad is a totally elevated corridor running for 13.8 km with nine stations.

The stations are Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar.
