Robbers flee with ATM near Gurgaon police station

Gurgaon, April 10 (IANS): Robbers fled with an automated teller machine (ATM) located near a police station in Gurgaon and containing two lakh rupees.

The incident occurred as three to four men entered the Yes Bank's ATM's cabin, located on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway near Kherki Daula community centre and held the ATM's security guard Rajaram hostage.

The machine was installed barely 300 metres from the Kherki Daula police station.

After arriving in a pickup jeep, the robbers fled with the ATM's cash box by cutting it off with the help of a gas cutter.

"The CCTV installed in the cash cabin was not working and guard Rajaram who hails from Uttar Pradesh was also unarmed," a police officer told IANS.

The guard told the police that the robbers arrived at around 2 a.m. and fled after an hour.

"Prima facie it looks the robbery was pre-planned and the robbers were aware that the CCTV camera installed there was not working," the police officer added.
