Tulsi Gabbard gets married in Hindu ceremony

Washington, April 10 (IANS): US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, the only Hindu member of the House of Representatives, married her fiance Abraham Williams in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Hawaii, media reported.

Gabbard, 33, exchanged vows with Williams, 26, on Thursday in a traditional Hindu ceremony -- with a Brahmin officiating -- but with a Hawaiian twist, with the couple saying their "I dos" in Hawaiian, according to a Hawaii News Now report.

Williams, a cinematographer and musician, was in charge of music and asked some friends to play.

Gabbard said the menu at the reception would not include meat since both she and Williams were vegetarians.

The guest list included former US Senator Daniel Akaka, former governor Neil Abercrombie, US lawmaker Mark Takai, Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell and former US lawmaker Colleen Hanabusa.
