AAP thanks Delhi government for compensation to farmers

New Delhi, April 11 (IANS): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday appreciated the Delhi government for its decision to provide the highest ever compensation to farmers hit by unseasonal rain and hailstorm in the national capital.

The AAP, in a statement, said the decision of the Arvind Kejriwal government to provide compensation of Rs.50,000 per hectare (Rs.20,000 per acre) to every affected farmer was the highest ever by any government in the country.

"The AAP government has proved its pro-people character in each of its decision so far and the farmers compensation in Delhi should serve as an eye-opener for other state governments, where farmers' crops have been destroyed," it said.
