Karkala, Apr 13: In a tragic incident which occurred within Hebri police station limits in the taluk on Sunday April 12, a bus passenger, who stretched his head out of the window to vomit as he was feeling nauseous, paid for this terrible mistake with his life. The incident occurred at Jakkanamakki in Someshwar in the taluk.

Subhan (18) from Shivamogga was travelling by a bus to Mangaluru from his hometown by a bus that was plying via Agumbe. As the bus traversed steep bends and curves on Ghat section, he suffered from nausea and put his head out of the window for vomiting.

At that precise time, the driver swerved the vehicle to extreme left to pave way for an oncoming vehicle. As such, Subhan's head hit a roadside electric pole. His face got crushed. Although he was taken by the same bus to Hebri hospital, he died before reaching the hospital.

It is learnt that the youth had been travelling by a seat in the front portion of the bus, but had changed his position to the backseat at Someshwar as he felt he was going to puke.

He was working for a footwear store in Shivamoogga, and was bound for the house of a relative in Mangaluru, it is gathered.
