Media Release

Germantown, Maryland, Apr 13: The Mangalureans living in the Washington DC metro area including Maryland, DC and Virginia came together to celebrate their first event of the year hosted by the Mangalurean association - Spring Gala 2015 at the Plum Gar Recreation Center at Germantown, MD, on April 11.

The colorfully decorated tables and hall with flower baskets arranged by Marina Pinto gave a perfect spring atmosphere to the venue.

The program formally began with a welcome note by Glenda Bastian, the president of Mangalorean association at 7pm. Glenda then called upon new members and guests to introduce themselves with their families to the crowd.

Dr Mala Britto Prabhu and Sonali Prabhu assisted by Eliza Lobo, Carol Britto and other members kept the children busy with games including Easter egg hunt and chicken dance game.  Pratap Prabhu supervised the open bar serving beer and wine while DJ John Lee kept the audience engaged on the dance floor with foot-tapping numbers. Many prizes were given away to the winners of spot games.

The audience was served a sumptuous dinner catered by Eastern Kabob, Germantown, Maryland, which was followed by non-stop baila dance that was enjoyed by one and all present at the fun filled evening.

The night finally ended at around 11:00 pm with a thank you note from president Glenda Bastian, who thanked all those present for their confidence in her and she also thanked her committee and all guests who extended a helping hand to make the evening a memorable one. Glenda also requested the members to look out for an announcement on the upcoming picnic in summer. All in all, the beautiful evening was very successful and was enjoyed and witnessed by all those who were present.
