Phnom Penh, April 13 (IANS): A giant Cambodian traditional sticky rice cake, weighing 4.04 tonnes, was included in the Guinness World Records as the biggest sticky rice cake in the world, according to a news statement from the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) on Monday.

"The giant sticky rice cake, made to celebrate the Angkor Sankranta Festival 2015 (in Siem Reap City), was included in the Guinness World Records in the afternoon of April 13 by a Guinness World Records judge," the UYFC, which made the cake, announced in the statement.

The 4.04-tonne cake took 45 hours to cook, Xinhua news agency cited the statement as saying, adding that it is one metre in diameter and five metres long.

The statement said the cake was made of one tonne of sticky rice, 507 kg of pork, 499 kg of beans, 499 kg of coconut cream, 15 kg of salt, four kg of sugar, three kg of pepper, and 26 kg of garlic.

The cake was packed in 333 kg of banana leaves and tied by 375 kg of strings.

"The cake is cooked in accordance with a technical standard," it said, adding that 100 chefs and assistants jointly made the cake.

"It is a pride for Cambodia. The world record title for the giant cake will bring Cambodia to global prominence," Chan Sophea, general administrator of the Cambodian Chef Association, said.

The cake will be exhibited at the complex of Angkor Wat heritage site in Siem Reap City during the Khmer New Year celebrations from Tuesday to Thursday.
