Bengaluru, Apr 13: The Medical Council of India (MCI) is likely to grant permission for admission of students for the MBBS course in three Government medical colleges – Koppal, Kalaburagi and Gadag – from the coming academic year of 2015-16.

The Congress government headed by chief minister Siddaramaiah has established three colleges and recently the MCI team has inspected the availability of infrastructure in colleges.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Monday, Karnataka’s Medical Education Miniser Dr Sharana Prakash Patil said the MCI team visited three colleges and identified some deficiencies.

The Stare Government had agreed to set right all deficiencies, he said. The MCI would again inspect colleges and expected to grant permission to start colleges from 2015-16, he said.

The intake in each college would be 150, Dr Patil said. However, three new colleges – Karwar, Madikeri and Chamarajangar – would not start from the year 2015-16, he said.
