Mangaluru: Police raid apartment, nab drug dealer - LSD worth Rs 10 lac seized

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Apr 14: In a major catch, the police on Monday April 13 arrested a drug dealer from an apartment at Kadri Kambala road and seized LSD sheet worth Rs 10 lac from him.

The accused has been identified as Robin Roy Menezes (21).

Police sources said that he has been involved in supplying LSD, one of the most powerful hallucinogenic drugs, for the past one-and-a-half years. He used to supply the drug to Goa, Bengaluru and students in Mangaluru, it is learnt.

Based on credible information, DCP (law) of reserved police Raghavendra and Kadri police inspector T D Nagaraj along with staff raided an apartment at Kadri Kambala road and arrested him.

The police also seized an LSD sheet (absorbent blotter paper) measuring 10x10 inches, worth Rs 10 lac, from him.

Police sources said that during interrogation, he said that a friend of his was supplying this drug to him from Austria in Europe.

Highly placed sources said these drugs were also being supplied to pubs in Bengaluru.

Kadri police have registered a case and further investigations are on.

For people who don't know :
LSD is a hallucinogenic drug which means if you take it you see things which aren't really there. You see colors, people and objects which aren't there. It is sold as blotting paper - s of the drug are put onto blotting paper and you put this paper on your tongue to get the effect. 1cm of this paper can cost upto 2-10thousand based on quality.
It might sound scary but LSD was researched and found to be one of the safest drugs known to man - as in it will not cause any permanent physical or mental changes to person taking it. Effects of it can last upto 8 hours but after that person will not suffer any side effects. Also it is one of the least addictive drugs- even less addictive than coffee.

Why is it illegal then? That's politics and has a lot of history behind it so I wont go into it's details but If you really do proper research about the drug, you'll know that it's not even as harmful as alcohol overall. Nowadays people just hear the word drug and go crazy - please question things and try not to believe anything media tells. Not every drug is harmful.

That being said, people can abuse LSD. A person can drink alcohol once a while and be a great person, or he can be a drunkard. Same with LSD. Anything abused is bad and with LSD, you have control over whether to abuse it or not -since it's not addictive.
This is different from some drugs like cocain or heroin. Once person uses such drugs for a few times, his body becomes addicted to it and he won't be live without it so using it or not is not under his control.
Hope people are more informed about drugs. Banning something simply has no meaning. It's the same as banning beef just because it hurts few people's sentiments.

Guys, ask yourself if you're 21 and over now. How many of you got that International business at that age. yes! It's is drug smuggling business which is even harder than legal business to succeed. Unless you are inherited lot of wealth from your parents or relatives and have a Godfather who will guide you, even in legal business you cant go on to International level at that age. This guy has been used by drug dealers as a minor by addicting him and to become their slave. Now he can't come out of their trap and they are just using him as a pawn. The people who are running this business are protected by power, both money and political, but police can only catch these tip of iceberg. If police can continue doing this good job, at least this will deter the new recruits for those gang. Getting to the bottom of the ice berg by our police, sorry.. no way... they do not have even the will power to do that even if politics not involved.

Haul of such a highly banned drug in Mangluru points to the fact that there is heavy demand for the same especially from the elite who have the money to splurge on high end hallucinogens!! This has probably started with the influx of filthy rich students who enter professional colleges by paying crores in capitation fees and having loads of money to splurge and enjoy their student life!!

Bro, while appreciating your views, we cannot condemn/judge anybody outright as it is just a matter of perception!! Does anybody know what made this young boy fall into the drug peddling business, he and only he will be knowing the reason??

It is a well known fact that small time criminals when jailed come into contact with bigger criminals and join them and the graduation to join more notorious criminals goes on and they ultimately become dreaded gangsters just for that initial jailing for a petty crime, read the history of notorious gangsters and this is the way it goes!!! Whoever has said "Man is a victim of time and circumstances"!!

It is heartening to note that the boy named Robin Roy Menezes, aged 21 has involved in drug racket at this tender age at the cost of his future. He himself dug his graveyard and ruined his career making the parents to suffer and undergo all the mental tortures.Though boy looks like hailing from decent family, his behavior, approaches and attitudes are hell bent on like boy is hailing from Slum. But behavior, conducts of the boys from slums is comparatively much much better than this boy.Very Sorry Robin Joy,you have chosen a very wrong path, which spoiled your entire life.Still you got enough time to improve.Hope you will improve, realize your past mistakes and give solace to your parents.
Now as the days are passing, the name and fame of our beautiful coastal cities like Udupi and Mangaluru is deteriorating. Not only this drug peddlers menace but also other activities like gang-rape,burglary,murder etc are increasing day by day without any end for that.
Once upon a time,we the people of coastal region especially people from Mangalore and Udupi were highly respected, honoured and treated graciously. But now other way round. There was enmity,no caste, religion and was living so harmoniously among all the religion. Now the past glory and charm is diminishing, fading day by day.Oh!! It is sad to see that Mangalore where peace prevailed has now turned into a place for drug peddlers.

If one observes the history of the place, one would perceive that the City was an extremely congenial place to dwell in ... a place for scholastic studies and schools - colleges and religious institutions prioritized education. Hindus - Muslims - Christians lived in common understanding and brotherhood. No one heard about drugs.

However it is disheartening to find that the scenario has considerably changed with different type of crimes taking place.

Hope the Police will get at the root cause of the problems and will get more clues about the DRUG MENACE
