Modi wishes nation on Baisakhi, Bohag Bihu


New Delhi, April 14 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted people on the occasion of Baisakhi, Bohag Bihu, Vishu, Poila Boishakh, Maha Vishuba Sankranti and Puthandu being celebrated across the country.

"Good wishes to my fellow Indians on the various festivals being celebrated across India. May these festivals bring joy in everyone's lives," Modi, who is on a three-nation sojourn, said in a tweet.

"Baisakhi greetings to everyone! May this festival enrich the spirit of harmony and happiness in society," he said.

Wishing the people of Assam, Modi said: "On Bohag Bihu, heartfelt greetings to my sisters and brothers of Assam."

On Poila Boishakh, Modi extended his greetings to "all Bengali friends", saying "have a great year ahead, Shubho Nabo Barsho".

Wishing the people of Kerala on the occasion of Vishu, the prime minister said: "May the coming year bring joy and prosperity in your lives."

He also wished Odia "sisters and brothers on Maha Vishuba Sankranti", and said: "I pray for a wonderful year ahead, full of prosperity and joy."

My best wishes to my Tamil friends on Puthandu. I pray that the coming year marks the fulfilment of all your wishes and brings happiness," he said.
