Mangaluru, Apr 14: A tanker of Karnataka Milk Federation moving to the city from Sagar in Shivamogga district fell by the roadside on Monday April 13 morning after its driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a road bend near Mavinahole village near Hosanagar in Shivamogga district. The driver fell into the roadside drain, was unable to muster enough strength in time to wriggle out of the situation, and eventually drowned as milk flowed into the drain, got accumulated, and eventually drowned him. The fact that no one was around when the accident occurred proved dear for his life.

Within sometime, a few two-wheelers passing by also skidded in the milk and fell to the road, but their riders were lucky to escape without fatal injuries. They were saved by villagers who had rushed to the spot after coming to know of the accident, and admitted into a hospital. The villagers of Mavinahole then recovered the body of the driver but by then he had breathed his last.

The spot where the accident occurred is known to be an accident-prone area as vehicles tend to pick up speed as they get straighter stretch at the end of the bend. It is gathered that the tanker was transporting about 3,000 litres of milk at the time to the city. All the milk in the tanker flowed down the drains and ditches in the region.

Identity of the driver is not yet known.
