Modi accorded ceremonial welcome in Berlin


Berlin, April 14 (IANS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day tour of Germany, was on Tuesday accorded a ceremonial welcome when he arrived here from Hannover.

The welcome at the Federal Chancellery was attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Following this, the Indian prime minister attended a working lunch hosted by Merkel after which the two leaders will hold bilateral talks.

Modi will later visit a German railway station.

Earlier, he met German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Modi is in Berlin on the second leg of his three-nation tour of France, Germany and Canada.

During his German sojourn, the Indian prime minister reached Hannover on April 12 where he attended the Hannover Messe fair in which India is partner country.
