Modi government played truant with Land Act: Chandy

Palakkad (Kerala), April 14 (IANS): Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday said the NDA government, led by Narendra Modi, has played truant with the Land Act floated by the previous UPA government to help farmers.

"The UPA government, in order to help the farmer, floated the Land Act, but the Modi government has played truant with it. Governance should benefit all and not just one section of the society," said Chandy adding that his government's policy has been both development and care.

"The much talked-about 'arrival' of Narendra Modi, who will be the saviour of the poor and down-trodden, has fallen flat," said Chandy.

"Modi, for some reason, has completely forgotten the weakest of the weak sections of the society who needs the best of attention. The general talk when he took over was that he would turn out to be the saviour for the poor and down-trodden, but it has not happened," said Chandy.

He also said that in the name of development, the biggest beneficiaries have been the rich.
