Stray dogs maul girl to death in Andhra

Hyderabad, April 15 (IANS): Stray dogs on Wednesday mauled a six-year-old girl to death in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district.

The incident occurred in Kakumanu village in Guntur district.

About 10 dogs attacked Sheikh Kousar when she was playing near her home. The dogs bit her head, face and other parts. She died on the spot.

Angry villagers staged sit-in along with the girl's body on Kakumanu-Guntur highway, protesting the negligence of the municipal authorities in checking the stray dog menace.

Some police officials rushed to the village to pacify the irate villagers after the girl's death.

A few days ago, a stray dog had attacked a girl and severely injured her in the same village. Local residents alleged that the authorities are not taking action on their repeated complaints about the stray dog menace.
