Central ministers visit rain-hit Telangana districts


Hyderabad, April 15 (IANS): Central ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu, M. Kundaria, and Bandaru Dattatreya on Wednesday visited parts of Telangana affected by unseasonal rains during last few days.

Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu inspected crop damaged by rains in Naglonda district and met the affected farmers.

He assured farmers that the central government would extend them all possible assistance.

Naidu, who was accompanied by Minister of State for Agriculture M. Kundaria and the BJP's Telangana unit president G. Kishan Reddy, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a decision that farmers who suffer loss of 30 percent of their crops in natural calamities would be compensated.

The ministers visited Bhongir and Bibi Nagar mandals in Nalgonda district. Naidu assured farmers that the government would take up cleaning of Musi river and provide them irrigation facilities.

Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya visited Karimnagar district. He said crops standing over one lakh acres in Telangana were damaged due to unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm.

He said in Karimnagar district alone, crops over 20,000 acres were damaged. He promised that the central government will come to the rescue of affected farmers.
