Bengaluru, Apr 15: With Karnataka GovernorVajubhaiRudabhaiVala declining to give his assent to the State Government’s proposal to promulgate an Ordinance for the trifurcation of the Bruhat Bengaluru MahanagaraPalike (BBMP), the Siddaramaiah regime has decided to convene a session of the State legislature on April 20 to discuss the Bill on the issue.

"It will be a one or two-day session of the legislature to discuss the Bill on BBMP trifurcation," a senior minister said.

The session would probably be held on Monday, the April 20," the minister said.

A final decision on the issue is likely to be taken at the State Cabinet, which would be meetng on Friday.

It may be recalled that the Governor had returned the proposed ordinance to the State Government and subsequently the Chief Minister had dropped the move to get the ordinance promulgated.

Obviously, the Governor was not satisfied with the timing of the proposed ordinance when elections to the BBMP are due in May as the term of the present Corporation Council expires this month.
