Karkala, Apr 15: “Like the mother feeds gruel after tactfully adding ghee to the child without its knowledge, the gods keep granting boons to the devotees in their own subtle ways without expressly bringing them to the notice of the concerned”, said Swamiji of Palimar Math, Sri Vidyadheeshateertha.

He was delivering benedictory address at a religious meeting organized on Tuesday April 14 at Kukkundoor Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple.

The Swamiji had visited the temple to dedicate silver umbrella and diamond ornaments offered in memory of the late Marianna Bhat by his wife, Saraswati Amma and children to the presiding deity of the temple.

“When a daughter presents a gift to her mother, the mother gets elated. Likewise, when locals dedicate something to the Goddess, she becomes gleeful. Our offerings do not make a difference to gods, but the gods get satisfied when the devotees offer something as per their individual capacities”, he said.

Sri Eshapriyateertha Swamiji of Admar Math, who was also present, said that praying to Goddess Durgaparameshwari absolves one of vile and leads them towards knowledge and fulfilment.

Priest of the temple, Vedamurty Shankaranarayana Bhat, who accepted the umbrella and ornaments on behalf of the presiding deity, said, “It is the duty of the people to offer a portion of their earnings to God like the way people pay tax to the government. Entrepreneur, Moodbidri Sripati Bhat, felt that the chance to live in the coastal region, which is a land of festivals and festivities, has been granted by the Lord because of good virtues earned in previous lives”.

Kannada Prabha reporter, Jitendra Kundeshwara, felt that it is impossible to totally clear the entire debt of the gods, parents, and Gurus. He asserted that in spite of this, an effort needs to be made to relieve oneself of this debt by looking after and instilling good culture to the children in the capacity of parents, imparting knowledge by occupying the seat of the Guru, and by serving the divine powers as much as possible.

Managing trustee of the temple, Ratnaraja Mudya, presided over the function. His wife, Leelavati R Mudya, and Chitra Bhat were present.

On this occasion, national award-winning teacher, Kemmannu A Laxmikanth Bhat and his wife, Rajeshwari, Karnataka Yuvaratna awardee, Sharat Kanangi, and Sunil Nelligudde of 'Telikeda Tenali' fame, were felicitated.

Srinidhi Bhat rendered prayer. Laxikanth Bhat and Manchi Sadananda Shetty presented the programme. Ramesh Moily proposed vote of thanks.
