Bengaluru based director to air serial on Facebook

Weekly soap to be available to viewers at the time they wish to view it

Bengaluru, Apr 16 (DHNS): Bengaluru-based Aviram Kanteerava has an innovative and cost-effective way to air his serial. One episode a week would be uploaded on Facebook for viewers.

Taking entertainment a step ahead, now, the cine-serial would be made available to you at the time you wish to see it. This idea is that of Kanteerava who is coming up with a new serial ‘Hello’ that would be aired on Facebook on its official page www.facebook.com/HelloCineserial.

To begin with, 12 episodes of the serial would be aired. One episode each on every Saturday would be put up on Facebook and also Youtube for viewing.

“In today’s hectic schedule when people work on varying shifts, watching television at a fixed time would not be possible. By uploading it on Facebook, we are giving viewers a choice to watch the serial at a time of their choice,” he said.

Unlike everyday soaps that are aired on television, each of the episodes would not exceed ten minutes’ duration.

“Anything beyond ten minutes might not hold viewer’s attention on Facebook. Thus we decided to keep it short. Also, it would be convenient for viewing that way,” he said.

Speaking to Deccan Herald here, Kanteerava said that the serial would provide a platform to debutants who have not been able to get an opportunity in the mainstream.

“So far, as many as 500 people have expressed interest in working for the soap. The response we have received is also great. Even before we have started airing the serial, there are over 3,500 likes,” said Kanteerava.

The weekly soap would see fresh faces and the team is keen on casting fresh faces. “We have connected to many people through Facebook itself. Someone who is passionate about acting and has not been able to get a role in commercial serials will get a platform here,” he said adding that 100 to 150 new comers would be introduced through ‘Hello’.

The idea of having it aired in Facebook struck Kanteerava when not much finance could be raised as is needed for a commercial movie. He has an experience of directing a few short films in Kannada.

Funding

On being asked about the funding, the director explained that it was from finance partners and other business set-ups - who will be get publicised through ‘Hello’ - that enough money would be raised for the cine-serial.

‘Hello’ is a serial based on the use of mobile phones and youth. The shooting will be done in various locations in Bengaluru, Hassan, Sakaleshpura and Mysuru.
