Mangaluru: SJEC hosts national-level PG management fest 'Zephyr'

Mangaluru, Apr 16: 'Prometheus', held as part of 'Zephyr-15', a two-day national-level PG management fest was inaugurated by Jacintha Alfred, mayor of Mangaluru at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor here on Thursday March 16.

Alzin Menezes, student coordinator welcomed the gathering.

Chief guest Jacintha Alfred unveiled the trophies and said, "Its an honour to be here at this temple of learning. College is a very important part of one''s life. Youngsters are the strength and future of our country. Youngsters should have a goal in life and work hard towards it. There is no substitute for success. Ethics and integrity will bring rewards. I wish all the best to this event."

Vice-principal, SJEC, Rio D'Souza said, "In any endeavour we take up we have a few things to keep in mind. In order to get started, ignition is necessary. Ignition used to light fire is zeal to me. Fire gives out light and that is passion to me. We need to have passion in anything we do. Lasting effect of fire is heat and heat signifies harmony. Zephyr consists all of these elements. When we do some thing we have to keep going. Success is not obtained instantly."

Fr Ajith Menezes in his presidential address said, "The education we pursue should enhance our common sense and prudence. Every event needs to teach a lesson for life. An onlooker cannot get any lesson out of it. In order to get some lesson you have to participate. I wish all best to the department and the participants of this event."

Ashwin Palankar, Student coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.

Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant director-SJEC, Dr Prakash Pinto, dean, MBA, SJEC, Chaco P J, faculty coordinator, SJEC and Anish Correa, student coordinator were the other dignitaries on the dais. The staff and the students of SJEC as well as students from other various institutions participating in the fest were present at the ceremony.

Over the two days, a number of events, designed to the managerial skills and abilities of the participating students, are being held. The event will conclude with the valedictory on Friday April 17.
