One dead, seven injured in Delhi building collapse


New Delhi, April 16 (IANS): A four-year-old child died while seven others, including three women, suffered injuries when a building under construction here collapsed on Thursday evening, police said.

The incident occurred in Najafgarh area of west Delhi.

"It was an under construction building located near Samaspur Khalsa main bus stand which collapsed suddenly. A total of 8 people were trapped inside the debris of the building," a police official said.

"One child identified as Anshul died in the incident while seven injured people were immediately taken to Rao Tukaram hospital where condition of two people is said to be critical," the official added.

Officials from the fire department said the incident took place at around 7.00 p.m.

"At 7.08 pm police informed us about the incident. We immediately rushed four rescue vehicles to the spot to save people trapped in the debris," a fire official said.
