Lawyers strike paralyses work in Delhi courts

New Delhi, April 17 (IANS): Judicial work in the Delhi courts was paralysed on Friday due to the day-long strike of the city lawyers protesting the killing of an advocate inside the Tis Hazari Courts complex on Friday.

The co-ordination committee of bar associations of all the district courts described the incident as unfortunate."It is unfortunate to hear that an advocate was killed at late night inside the courts complex," said committee chairman R.K. Wadhwa.

The strike was observed in all the six district courts - Patiala House, Tis Hazari, Rohini, Karkardooma, Saket and Dwarka.

Wadhwa demanded that the Delhi police must ensure proper security inside the city courts complexes.

Delhi Bar Association president Sanjeev Nasiar said such an incident could be controlled by keeping a proper watch inside the court premises and more CCTV cameras must be installed in the court complex.

He said that no unauthorised persons should be allowed to stay in the court complexes till late night and this must be checked regularly.
