Mangaluru, Apr 18: Doctors and other professionals had a fun time on Saturday April 18 as they participated in 'Engouffrer', a unique eating championship organized exclusively for them by Mangaluru's first and only food reviewing body 'The 3 Hungry Men' at Father Muller Medical College here.

The event, sponsored by Northern Sky and co-sponsored by Hangyo Ice Cream, was organized as part of 'Adrenaline-2015' fest at Father Muller Medical College.

Errol Gomez, CEO of Northern Sky, who was the chief guest inaugurated the event in a unique way by unveiling a crate of food, and said, "Northern Sky is happy to be part of such an event. I thank The 3 Hungry Men for this opportunity. Let us make this event a great success."

After unveiling the food, Nikhil Pai and Colin Vernon D'Souza, founders of The 3 Hungry Men requested Errol Gomez to have a Mangalore bun to symbolically flag off the event.

A floral welcome was given to all the dignitaries.

The competition consisted of three rounds. In the 1st round, the contestants had to gobble up Mangalore buns, and in the second round, they had to finish off pizzas as fast as possible. The third had them gulping down Hangyo Ice Creams even as the crowd cheered on.

At the end of the three rounds, Sameer and Diwan of AJ Institute of Dental Sciences emerged winners, followed by Soma and Jonathan of Father Muller Medical College.

After the event, speaking to daijiworld, Colin said, "The crowd was really good and we have been getting positive response. The entry was limited and free. This is the first time we have introduced Mangalore buns in an eating competition. It was fun conducting this event.

"On May 19 The 3 Hungry Men will complete 4 years and this is the last event before the anniversary. This event is more like a celebration of completing 4 years of success," he added.

The 3 Hungry Men was the brainchild of Colin and Nikhil. It began as a casual discussion over their love for food, when they realized Mangaluru had no one to tell people where to eat or find their favorite dishes. It is then that they started reviewing food in the hotels of Mangaluru and around, and became the first food reviewing body in the city. Almost 4 years into the food reviewing industry, their joint venture has proved to be a huge success with their excellent reviews, even gaining attention on a national television. Their continuous collaborations with various charitable organizations has enhanced their contribution to society. The 3 Hungry Men organize all kinds of food events with a part of the proceeds going to charity.
