Hafiz Saeed calls for Pakistan's intervention in J&K

Islamabad, April 18 (IANS): The chief of Pakistan's banned terror outfit Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD), Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, has expressed support for Kashmiri separatist leader Masrat Alam who has been arrested on sedition charges.

"We condemn #MasratAlam arrest! India has always used these failed tactics to suppress Kashmiris, will fail again PakSalutesMasratAlam," Hafiz Saeed tweeted on Friday.

He also said the Pakistan government should intervene in Kashmir.

"Pakistan government should not remain silent on continuous atrocities on Kashmiris! or history will never forgive," he said in another tweet.

In a swift anti-terror move, Pakistan had banned the JuD in January this year and nine other outfits suspected of fundamentalism and money laundering for terror groups.

The government also froze the bank accounts of JuD and barred its leader Hafiz Saeed from leaving the country for foreign travel.

However, despite the ban, the terror outfit's chief is often reported fanning hatred against India in Pakistani media.
