Udupi, Apr 18: People in Udupi were caught unawares on Saturday April 18 as sudden rain lashed the city for over an hour in the evening.
The pre-monsoon shower, which hit Dakshina Kannada district a few days back, brought brief respite to the people from the summer heat.
As it was late evening when the rain began to pour, people who were leaving offices were the most affected.
The day was mostly sunny and there was no real sign of rain, hence most people were unprepared and rushed about seeking shelters. Nevertheless, many were seen enjoying the pouring rain.
The rain accompanied by lightning, thunder and winds caused some damage too. The roof of the house belonging to Ammanni Devadiga at Korankarapady flew off.
Apart from Udupi city, showers were witnessed in Manipal, Brahmavar, Hiriadka and other places, and also in Karkala.
