Kasargod, Apr 19: A special thief has been arrested in Kasargod. The accused was a specialist in stealing and cheating the auto rickshaw drivers who he thought are easy preys.

P Dawood (26) from Bekal Mavval is the accused.

Dawood had a modus operandi and his own style of cheating. He only targeted rickshaw drivers. He only demanded Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 from them, maybe he knew very well that auto drivers do not carry more than that.

Dawood would come and engage an auto rickshaw for a distant place and act like a businessman. He would stop somewhere and say that he has a slight shortage of cash to pay for goods bought by him. He would collect the money saying that he would pay it later when he reaches the destination. After getting the money he would suddenly disappear from the spot. Drivers would wait for him for hours.

The police based on eight different complaints started the investigations. Now after the arrest, it has been learnt that Dawood has done it with more than 25 people. Real number will only be known after a proper count.
