Udupi, Apr 19: "Instead of wasting time talking about Congress which does not even deserve to sit in the opposition, let us emphasize on ensuring victory for BJP in all the upcoming elections. This will be our fitting reply to Congress," said B S Yeddyurappa, former chief minister of Karnataka.
Yeddyurappa was speaking at a mega rally organized by Kaup unit of BJP in Kaup town on Sunday April 19.
"Congress is misleading the people by saying that the land ordinance has been introduced to benefit the rich at the cost of the poor. The central BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a corruption-free government in the past eleven months," Yeddyurappa added.
Shobha Karandlaje, MP from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency said, "The land ordinance will benefit people as they get four times the market rate as compensation. Defence, highways, electricity and railways will improve because of the ordinance. People should understand the motives of the Congress who is accusing us of wrongdoings."
Businessman and social worker Suresh P Shetty Gurme was welcomed to the party by national vice-president of BJP B S Yeddyurappa and other leaders with handing over of the party flag. B Sukumar Shetty from Byndoor was honoured on behalf of Byndoor unit for standing first in the district in the registration of new members.
Legislators C T Ravi, V Sunil Kumar, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Capt Ganesh Karnik, Former legislators Vasantha V Salian, Lalaji Mendon , Leaders Suresh P Gurme, Shyamala Sunder, Sunitha Naik, Mattaru Rathnakar Hegde, Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, Udayakumar Shetty, Katpadi Shankar Poojary, Upendra Kumar Nayak, Arun Shetty Padoor, Geethanjali Suvarna, Jerald Fernandes, Sheela K Shetty, Nayana Ganesh, Prakash Shetty Padebettu, Usha Shenoy and Sukumar Shetty Byndoor were present among others during the rally.
