Udupi, Apr 23: "A total of Rs 20.35 crore has been approved for Udupi constituency to undertake various developmental works," said MLA Pramod Madhwaraj at a press meet here on Wednesday April 22.

"There are seven different foundation laying ceremonies which will be held from April 24 for various developmental works such as road construction, building education institution and bridges and road-widening at a total budget of Rs 17.65 crore. Grants have been approved for 12 construction works 2015-16 budget," he further said.

"Rs 50 lac has been approved for the new building of Government Girls’ PU College, Udupi. Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned for the 1.5 km bridge across the Swarna River. The government has also sanctioned grants for various renovation works such as Santhekatte curve (Shiroor- Kokkarne-Santhekatte)," he added.

He also spoke about load shedding and said that it was a common issue during the month of April and May. "We require 9,500 mega watt power, but at present, we are getting only 7,500 mega watts and we are facing 2,000 mega watt power shortage."

He also alleged that Prime Minister Modi was accountable for this power shortage. "The PM had promised of 24x7 power supply earlier, but it has not become a reality yet," he said.

"A new city bus will operate soon in city under NERM project. The present contractor Mova Company has failed to ensure its maintenance and tender has already been cancelled by City Muncipal council Udupi," he said.

MLA Pramod also said that the government was open for proposals from people’s representatives. "Any proposal can be submitted by the people’s representative. The district administration is open to all development works and CMC development fund will be used for them. We have Rs 33 crore in CMC Nagarottana fund for the development work."

Veronica Cornelio, chairperson of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents, Janardhan Thonse, president of town planning authority, Udupi, and Yuvaraj, CMC president Udupi among others were present.

I pray that the roads interior of the village should be put right. I agree with Mr. Stan, the kemmannu roads are now better than what it was.

See the road which runs from the Panchayat office towards Gujerrabettu and Hoode. Likewise there are several in the Udipi city which are neglected. Wake up before something drastic happens.

When Udupi constituency gets Rs 20.35 crore for development works I feel it is less but If you spend all 20.35 cores on development is good but we all know that 75% will go to corrupt. Please keep check on that the development money will not go to corrupt. Last month I saw a contract given to build road in Kemmannu.
