Bantwal, Apr 24: “There has been 38 percent progress in the social and educational census. As the district consists of intellectuals, the census officials had to face more and more questions from people. So the work progressed slowly. It is continuing without problems,” said deputy commissioner (DC) A B Ibrahim.

The DC was speaking to reporters after inspecting the census work in Sajipamunnooru and Bimooda gramas of Bantwal taluk. “As there was no knowledge with regard to the questions in the forms, there were suspicion and anxiety among them. However, everything is going on smoothly at present,” he said. He also requested citizens to be polite with the census officials.

Addressing the census officials, Ibrahim asked them to speak to the people in the houses and obtain details instead of filling the forms with their opinions. “Obtain the signature of the inmates of the houses only after the forms are filled completely. The information that you collect is a big asset for the government. So, work with diligence,” he said.

He visited some houses with the census officials and spoke politely with the people there. Ibrahim asked whether they are getting government facilities and if they have problems. He visited two houses in Nandavara of Sajipamunnooru grama and two houses in Dalit Colony in Beemooda Chendthimaru with the census officials. The DC also pasted the sticker outside the houses.

Tahsildar Purandara Hegde, deputy Tahsildar Rohinath, municipal council president Vasanthi Chandappa, chief official Leena Britto, officials Muthadi, Prabhadevi, and others were present.
