Thousands join Ramdev's yoga camp in Nepal

Kathmandu, April 24 ( IANS): Thousands of Nepalis on Friday joined a five-day free yoga camp launched by Indian yoga guru Ramdev here.

Ramdev arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday to conduct the session at Tundikhel, being organised by the Patanjali Nepal chapter.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bamdev Gautam, Irrigation Minister Narayan Prakash Saud and dozens of senior government officials also attended the yoga camp.

The organisers have estimated an attendance of 20,000 people in the camp.

Ramdev, who is on his fifth visit to Nepal, will also participate in a campaign to clean the Bagmati river. The revered Pashupatinath temple is located on its banks.

Yoga became popular among Nepalis after Ramdev aggressively promoted it. He will also travel to other cities of Nepal to promote yoga.
