Mumbai, Apr 24: Dubai’s young entrepreneur Harish Sherigar, president of Devadiga Sangha Dubai, was honoured with ‘Devadiga Udyoga Ratna’ during the grand finale of 90th celebrations of Mumbai Devadigara Sangha which took place at Devadiga Bhavan (Regional Cultural Centre) at Nerul.
The 90th celebrations of Mumbai Devadigara Sangha witnessed a grand event. On this occasion, persons who strived for the betterment of Devadiga community were felicitated.
During the event, felicitations were given to eminent personalities for their achievement in various fields in the presence of dignitaries.
President of Akhila Bharata Tulu Okkuta Dharmapala, U Devadiga was awarded ‘Devadiga Samaja Ratna’ for his achievement in various fields, ‘Devadiga Udyoga Ratna’ was presented to renowned Dubai’s young entrepreneur Harish Sherigar, president of Devadiga Sanga Dubai, as well as renowned singer, ‘Devadiga Seva Ratna’ was presented to M Moily-working president of Akshay co-operative credit society Mumbai, ‘Devadiga Prachaarya Ratna’ was presented to Dr B S Sherigar- former vice-chancellor of Kuvempu University in Shivamogga, Nagaswara player Nagesh A Bappanadu was presented with ‘Devadiga Naada Ratna’, and ‘Devadiga Kala Ratna’ was presented to Gunapal Udupi- veteran play actor, and director.
The recipients of ‘Devadiga Vaidya Ratna’, Dr K V Devadiga, ‘Devadiga Vidya Ratna’, C A Dinaker Attavar, and ‘Devadiga Vijnana Ratna’ Dr HArin Ullal were remembered as they were absent for the event.
‘Devadiga Sanmanitha award’ was presented to Thonse Jayashreekrishan Shetty, president of Jayashree Krishna Parisara Premi Samithi, president of Bunts Association Sahyama N Shetty, entrepreneurs Ashok N Trivedi, Premananda Shetty and Shodhan Prasad.
B G Mohandas for his service in media field, renowned Kabaddi player Shashank Devadiga in sports field, Vishwas Attavar of Reliance were also felicitated on this occasion.
About thirty achievers of Devadiga community were felicitated with ‘Devadiga Bhushan’ award by Devadiga Sangh on the occasion.
The achievers were introduced by former president of the Sangha H Mohandas. President of cultural events Dharmapala U Devadiga welcomed the gathering.

The felicitation programme was followed by scintillating singing from Dubai fame Harish Sherigar and team. It was a mixture of Tulu, Kannada and Hindi songs. Tulu short film ‘Bolkir’ was screened on the occasion. It is produced by Dharmapala Devadiga and directed by Loku Kudla.
