Mangaluru, Apr 25: There are thousands of people in the Mangaluru region who want to enter the celluloid world in different capacities. But Mangaluru seldom offers any opportunities for the same. Daijiworld 24x7, the sister concern of daijiworld.com, is holding a short film festival to promote and encourage coastal talents.

Daijiworld 24x7 started accepting entries for this special film festival last month, and the deadline is April 30, 2015. The competition has received much response with a good number of budding filmmakers sending in their creative entries.


Terms and Guidelines

Eligibility

Daijiworld short film festival is a competition open to any independent or student filmmaker from coastal Karnataka. Works will be considered for competition only if they are of a total running time of 15-20 minutes. The Festival committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of the entry.

All entries must be independently produced and financed. Films produced, financed or developed by film studios or television networks are not eligible for the competition.


Submissions

Films can be submitted on DVD. Entry form with all details filled in and fee of 500 must be submitted with each project. Multiple submissions by the same director and/or production company are accepted, but a separate form must accompany each entry. Unsigned entry forms will be rejected.

The entry must also include the following: Film description (50 words or less), film logline, Complete production credits (profile of team), director’s headshot (digital, 200 dpi min.), director’s bio, list of previous and planned screenings and (5) stills from the film (digital, 200 dpi min).

All submitted materials become the property of the Daijiworld Film Festival and its organization. These materials cannot be returned. By submitting this material and signing the release form, the contestant acknowledges Daijiworld short film festival the right to copy any material for the festival’s non-commercial use only.

The deadline for DVD entries is April 30. Applicants will be notified of their status after the committee views the screenings.


Judging

Entries will be pre-screened by the Festival selection committee. This panel, headed by the Festival director, will select 10 films from the submissions. The selected films will then be given public exhibition on three curated programmes. Three judges will view the public exhibition programs and award the festival’s cash prizes with Award. The jury will view the selected films during private screenings in the exhibition theater in Bengaluru (The voting results / FB likes are then combined to determine the awards). Both jury panels are made up of artistes, critics, writers, and filmmakers.


Awards

Grand Jury Award - Best Film

Best Direction/ Best Editing / Best Actor / Best Actress / Best Cinematography
Award winner will get a chance to enter coastalwood film industry.

All films screened as official selections are eligible for the Audience Award. The award is based solely on audience/ Jury decision, voting at the film screenings. Additional trophy and certificate awards are also presented.


Publicity

By signing the entry form, the filmmaker gives the Daijiworld Short Film Festival permission to use all submitted materials, including but not limited to film stills, descriptions, director’s biography and film screening history in any and all forms of media for the express purpose of festival promotion and publicity. However, we will limit footage to less than one minute, and will not authorize television broadcast of any footage without the direct consent of the filmmaker and/or producers.
