Nepal quake: MEA opens control room


New Delhi, April 25 (IANS): The ministry of external affairs (MEA) has opened a round-the-clock control room to answer queries regarding the massive earthquake in Nepal.

"MEA opens 24 hour Control Room for queries regarding tragic #NepalEarthquake. Numbers: 91 11 2301 2113, 91 11 2301 4104 and 91 11 2301 7905," ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also tweeted the helpline numbers for the Indian embassy in Kathmandu -- 977 9851107021, 9851135141.

She further said: "Just landed after 10 hours long flight from Indonesia. Sorry to know about the massive earthquake in our eastern states and Nepal."

Around 500 people were killed in the earthquake that rocked Nepal on Saturday.
