15 security personnel killed in Iraq car bombings

Baghdad, April 25 (IANS): At least 15 security personnel were killed and 22 others wounded when three suicide car bombers struck the positions of border guards on Saturday at a border crossing point with Jordan in Iraq, a security source said.

The incident occurred when three suicide bombers blew up three vehicles packed with explosives at Trebil border crossing with Jordan in Anbar province, the source told Xinhua news agency.

The blasts also damaged nearby buildings and a checkpoint at the crossing point, the source added.

Iraqi aircraft flew over the area to secure the scene from possible further attacks by the Islamic State (IS) militant group, which frequently attacks border points with the neighbouring countries.
