Congratulations on the celebrating of the post-centenary golden jubilee of my Baptised church, the Immaculate Conception Church, Urwa. Stunningly beautiful pictures, costumes almost absolutely original and I like the way they wears Double Kachha with shawl on the shoulder. The senior gentleman walking with banner representing “Pompei Maai Vaado”.
150 years of Christianity have given the Urwa Parish a sense of pride. So many Christian families have grown and prospered under the faith Our Lady of Immaculate Conception.

Great display of Celebration from the Urwa Church commemorating 150 years of its existence. Nice display of traditional costumes by the men and women of the Parish - young and old - with colors and pageantry. All these displays demonstrate pride and glory of the past and present, and render a sign of hope for the future.

150 years of Christianity have given the Urwa Parish a sense of pride. So many Christian families have grown and prospered under the faith of God. New generations have blossomed and rendered a pathway of success. The changes for the next 50 years will be much more and much faster because the world is moving in that direction.

May God bless the Urwa Parish.

Congratulations on the celebrating of the post-centenary golden jubilee of the Immaculate Conception Church, Urwa. Stunningly beautiful pictures, a fine mixture of 'nostalgia' and the modern, (good job: Meryick D'Silva). I liked the senior gentleman walking in from of the banner representing 'Pompei Maai Vaado.' His costume is almost absolutely original and I like the way he wears the 'popLi' shawl on his shoulder while holdng the edge of his 'Khaass' (kacchha) in one hand and a seemingly ancient looking umbrella on the other and the lady ideally with the head cushion (we used to call it 'sumboL) carrying what looks like drum sticks (the picture has two ladies, only the basket of the other lady is seen (see two different sari colours), probably carrying turmeric or plantain leaves and Areca-nut bunch, while the strongmen are carrying a couple of 'tandLa-muDos.' Not forgetting the young men wearing lungi and 'half 'challaN' underneath.
