Bhatkal, Apr 27: Yenepoya University team has won the state level open football tournament organized by Bhatkal Inter Football Association (BIFA).

The final match was played between Yenepoya and host team BIFA. Yenepoya University won the tournament defeating BIFA by 3-0. Yenepoya's Shehin Mohammed , Ansari Vand and Vinu K scored one goal each in the final.

Winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,001 with a trophy while the runners up were awarded Rs 10,001 and a trophy. The tournament was organized by Bhatkal Inter Football Association at the YMSA ground. 18 teams had participated in the tournament.

In the semi finals BIFA defeated Beatless by 5-0 while Yenepoya defeated DYES Bangalore by 8-7 in the penalty shoot-out to come to the final.

The following prizes were also presented after the final match.

Best playmaker:     Shanis (Yenepoya University Mangaluru)
Best goal keeper :   Naseef Siddiqua (BIFA)
Best defender:        Nabeel (AITM Bhatkal)
Best striker:           Samman (Beatles Gangoli)

In the closing ceromony Moulana Ansar Madani from Khateeb Tanzeem Masjid congratulated Yenepoya team for winning the tournament, and also congratulated the organizers, BIFA.

Inayatullah Shabanadri,Javeed Hussain Armar,Gayathri and Ishwar Naik adressing the spectators during the closing ceromony congratulated Yenepoya for winning the state level tournament and wished the best for host BIFA.

Imtiyaz Udyawar president of Bhatkal Muslim youth federation presided over the function.

Social workers Nazeer Kashimji, physical director Nehru College Hubli Irshad Mukku and Kaleemullah, Ameen Momim, Saleem Merchant, Daiyan Ruknuddin, Masood Barmwar Senior Members Ganim,Mashallah Shanu, Isthiaque ruknuddin and others were present.

The programme commenced with the recitation of the Quran by Hafiz Abdullah Armar. Ahid Mohtesham welcomed and compered the programme .Maviya Mohtesham delivered vote of thanks.
