Quake toll rises to 20 in Tibet


Beijing, April 27 (IANS): The toll in Tibet due to the impact of the earthquake that struck Nepal rose to 20 on Sunday, a media report said.

Saturday's quake in Nepal killed more than 2,500 people.

According to Xinhua news agency, 58 people were injured in Tibet and four people, including a Nepali national, were missing in Nyalam county.

The quake affected the southwestern part of Tibet. Some 24,800 people have been relocated in Xigaze city.

The highway linking Xigaze and the Zham Pass, the border port to Nepal, has been cut by landslides.

The quake also toppled 1,206 houses, damaged roads and cut telecommunications in Xigaze, where 54 temples were also damaged.
